General Information

  • Saturday, September 7 from 10 AM - 6:30PM

Sunday, September 8 (race morning) from 5:30 AM - 6:30 AM

*Located at the Element Hotel, 25 E Mendenhall Ave

  • Half Marathon - 8:00AM

    10K - 8:15AM

  • Registered runners must ride a shuttle bus to the start line.

Because both events are point-to-point courses, we are required to provide a shuttle system to the start lines. Our city infrastructure is not large enough to accommodate runners being dropped off, or cars parking at the start. We work diligently with the City of Bozeman to reduce congestion, eliminate traffic concerns, and enhance safety for participating runners and the Bozeman community at large.

Cars parked at the start line will be towed. Cars dropping runners off will be turned around with no exceptions.

  • Shuttles will depart from Main Street, between Bozeman and Black Ave:

Half Marathon - 6:30 AM - 6:40 AM (DO NOT arrive at 6:40 AM or you will miss the shuttle)

10K - 6:45 AM - 6:55 AM (DO NOT arrive at 6:55 AM or you will miss the shuttle)

  • The Bridger Park Garage is located between Tracy and Black, which is just one block from the bus pickup.

  • Refunds are not offered. If you are unsure about attending the race, we encourage you to wait to sign up. We have a large participant cap, which allows you to register at your convenience any time leading up to the race date. In the event we approach our race cap and become subject to selling out, you will be notified in advance.

Deferrals are not accepted beginning 1 month before the event date. If you would like to request a deferral before this time, they are considered on a case-by-case basis. Please contact our team at bozemanmarathon@gmail.com

    Transfers are not allowed.

  • Airport: (BZN) Bozeman-Yellowstone International Airport is located just 15-20 minutes from downtown Bozeman.

Lodging: There are several lodging options available for booking. The closest and most convenient location is the Element Hotel, where packet pickup is located. For 2024, we are working on securing a special booking discount at the Element Hotel. We will publish information as it is finalized.

However, there are additional lodging options available downtown and throughout the surrounding valley.

Transportation: The Streamline Bus provides free transportation throughout select areas in Bozeman.

  • The Half Marathon and 10K events put forth an extensive effort, working alongside the City of Bozeman and other professional safety personnel, to ensure your safety as a participating runner and keep our valley free of any litter.

Unfortunately, we are unable to fully close the courses to traffic. However, the courses are heavily marked with cones, entrances from side streets are blocked off, and safety personnel are located throughout. We kindly ask that you follow some simple steps below:

    1. Race to the right - since one lane remains open, please be cautious and avoid the center lane lines.

    2. Indicate your intent to pass, especially in crowded sections or with strollers. A verbal “on your left” as you pass can go a long way!

    3. Pack your trash - if you consume a gel or other sports snack, pack it with you until you can properly dispose of it at an aid station/trash can. Do not throw your trash onto the ground along the course.

    4. Stay aware - Observe your surroundings and be alert. Headphones are strongly discouraged, unless they are open-ear and you are still able to hear your surroundings.

  • We will not be offering 2024 discounts for any event.

  • Yes, both the Half Marathon & 10K races will be certified for 2024.

  • 4 hours.

    Courses close at 12:00 PM.

  • Yes. Strollers are allowed on course and can be brought onto the bus shuttle. We kindly ask that you provide adequate space between runners and indicate your intent to pass runners to avoid any trips or falls.

  • We will follow the Montana Department of Environmental Quality measurements to make decisions regarding race day. While Montana does have a fire season, Bozeman is usually fortunate in that air quality is typically not compromised thanks to our higher elevation and distance from active fires. However, if air quality reaches an unhealthy level, race officials reserve the right to cancel the event. There hasn't been a year where we have had to cancel yet.

Cancellation of marathon events related to wildfire smoke and/or air quality do not qualify for refunds. By registering for this event, you acknowledge this risk as indicated in your e-waiver signed electronically on RunSignUp.com.

  • Low 40's and Mid 70's is an average race day.

  • Aid stations are located ~3 miles apart along the entire race course. All aid stations will be fully stocked with water and Gatorade. Select aid stations will be stocked with GU energy gel.

There are 2 bathrooms at each aid station.

THIS IS A REDUCED CUP EVENT

The Bozeman Marathon is dedicated to eliminating waste and reducing our footprint. We highly encourage all runners to bring a reusable cup or water bottle/reservoir. There will be cups at aid stations, but they are subject to running out. Runners may purchase a race cup at registration checkout. The cup will be ready for you at packet pickup.

  • Sorry, no dogs are allowed on the course due to safety concerns. Fido is welcome to meet you (on leash) at the finish line to celebrate.

  • We strongly discourage the use of headphones during the race. The race course is still open to traffic. Although the course is marked very well with cones, we strongly urge you to be able to hear your surroundings. If you must wear earphones, we urge you to consider Aftershokz, or any brand that allows you to still hear your surroundings.

  • Runners have access to portable toilets at the following locations:

    - Near the morning bus shuttle pickup (2 blocks down at Rouse Ave & Main St)

    - At the start line

    - All aid stations

    - At the finish line (Rouse Ave & Main St)

  • Yes! All registered runners receive a drawstring drop bag. Write your BIB NUMBER on this bag, bring it with you on the bus shuttle to the start line, and then it will be shuttled back to the finish line for you. Upon finishing, find the "DROP BAG" tent to claim your bag.
